Amare Ambrose teaches a recipe to those under social distancing rules.

For this assignment, I wanted to utilize my ever so famous little brother again. Working with an 8 year old who is bored in Pandemic times has been an interesting feat; he has no acting experience and was a bit nervous to shoot the video. He mentioned for days before recording that he never gets to have fun in the kitchen. When the world was fast moving, little time and attention had been paid to teaching Amare how to cook. This video shows him creating a totally made up recipe of his choice with little guidance on cooking.

The process to shooting this video consisted of a lot of bribing a kid to focus and trying to get him to cooperate. There were many edits made and material cut because he was unable to focus or follow the rules. In the end, it all came together as best as it could. The theme and focus of the story is a kid cooking during quarantine. It is a basic how to video to show how an 8 year old would execute a recipe overall. Please enjoy this video!

This story telling assignment was a learning opportunity for me. I was able to take time to access my five senses and really observe what it means to be an 8-year-old with new circumstances. I wanted to capture my brother during his “recess” time playing soccer and running around getting fresh air. Going outside has a new meaning for him and I; it is a time for reflection and fun when we are forced to distance ourselves from those we love and the places we frequent. Below are the photos I took of my brother, Amare Ambrose with overall, medium, close up, and action shots.
